Harvest Feast Day
Well, that was yesterday at Joey's class. He kept saying since last week that he didn't want to go, that "I'm not looking forward to it", and "Turkey sucks".
Well, I spent the day with his class. They dressed up in their little indian garb and had their feast which involved peanut butter on a plastic knife, dinner rolls, turkey cold cuts, popcorn, and butter that they made all by themselves (as well as some Carlos-Birthday-Cake, pumpkin pie, and cupcakes!). Joey actually ate EVERYTHING on his place - which is rare (if it's not a corndog, fish stick, or chicken nugget - it just gets picked at). I think he did it because he knew that he wouldn't get cake - and he LOVES cake!
Afterwards, when we were outside waiting for my mom he said "The harvest feast wasn't that bad afterall. You was right, mommy!". Well, of course I was. Duh.
Then he told me that we couldn't have a "harvest feast" tomorrow (today), though. Because that's too many. He already had one and that was just fine. LOL.

MIL is sick in bed with pneumonia, so we won't be joining (or sending Joey to join) DH's side of the family. She didn't sound good at all on the phone last night - especially when she asked what time it was and I told her 7:15. It was PM on WEDNESDAY night - she thought I was calling her at 4:45am on Thursday morning, ROFL. She was so out of it. I hope she gets better soon, pneumonia is NO fun (I should know, lol).

In about 30 minutes we'll be plopping in front of the TV to watch the Macy's Tday Parade. Maybe Joey will be more interested in it than the previous years.
Around 11 or 12 my sister will be picking us up to head over to my moms for a bit. She eats early, so we do lunch there and then dinner at our house, lol.
I'm not "cooking" a turkey perse, this year. Our oven has been very flakey and I don't trust it to cook a full dinner. So I just bought one of those premade dinners at the grocery store. A few of the things we won't eat, so I'll take those to my moms - maybe they'll eat them (cranberry stuffing, greenbean almondine). Ick. Anyway, I bought a can of corn, and some yams for DH's liking. Maybe Joey will eat the yams too. We shall see :)

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree....
We have a bad habit for the last few years. We can't seem to find a tree to our liking. The one we had when Joey was born was just fine for a few years, but by the time he was 6 months old it was a piece of crap and we had to throw it out. Then since then, it's been financial. By the time we had the money to get a good sized artificial tree, everyone would be sold out and we'd get stuck with a super piece of disposable crap.
Well this year, I said "Screw the electric bill!" and got a tree when they still had them! It still was only $17 at Target, but it's a nice fluffy big 6 foot tall tree. I'll take the bitty one in our closet to work and set it up on the counter there.
I left my balls in my moms car though (sidenote: I seem to leave at least one thing in her car every time I get in it, lol). But we'll decorate it tonight or tomorrow :)
2 years ago I ended up spending $20 on this tree from a store called MoMo's. It's like a...umm...I can't even explain it. But they sell a mishmash of crap there. This tree was very "naked" looking. It was like 6 feet tall and had like 5 branches - that kind of nekkid. No amount of decorations would help this thing out. What we ended up doing was pulling all of the branches towards the front and decorated it. From the front it looked like any ordinary xmas tree, but if you looked at it from the side, you'd see that it was flat-flush against the wall, rofl. DH called it "The small-apartment space saving tree". It was hillarious. But the day after xmas, that thing went right out the door - decorations and all - straight into the dumpster. Good thing I buy my decorations at the dollar store, ROFL.
