Just some updates

My dad had his thyroid surgery on Monday. They found a tumor the size of a baseball in there. They thought it was a LOT smaller, but it was hidden behind his collar bone, so they didn't see the whole thing. They said it was probably benign, but they were going to do tests on it anyway. He came home Tuesday, and then was re-admitted today because he was having bad side effects from the anesthesia. Apparently it's known to cause problems with men who have prostate issues (he has an enlarged one I guess, but no other probs with it). It caused his prostate to balloon up and the poor guy couldn't go potty. He was really uncomfortable, and was in some pain so they took him back to the ER today, when he was admitted. They also got the call, while they were there, that the tumor WAS cancer :( It's totally treatable though. They'll remove the other thyroid within the next month or so, and treat him with antibiotics. So, he'll be fine. I just feel bad for the poor guy, having to go thru all this crap.

And then there's my sister....

She had another hearing today on her drunk driving incident. It was just supposed to be a continuance of her last hearing b/c the prosecuter had to check with the people who's rock she hit, to see if they wanted restitution (to pay for a rock? lol). Anyway, they didn't, therefore they turned it into her sentencing. They read off the charges, and my mom said my sisters jaw hit the floor. Apparently she blacked out and didn't remember 99% of what they said. Like 1) They found her passed out in her car. She thought she had went home and then came back - which she probably did because her money & purse was in the house and her door was unlocked when she finally did get home. Plus a few other things, but oh well - she did the deed and now must pay. She has a $1800 fine and has to spend 11 nights in jail. Not so bad, I think, for being so farking stupid. She gets to be out on work furlough, and even got to pick her dates. She'll be going at the end of September.

Oy.
